SPIELBERG & COLUMBO

Chosen by Falk himself, Steven Spielberg directed the first Columbo episode when it became one of  the rotating programs of the NBC Mystery Movie in 1971.  It was Murder by the Book, one of the best Columbo episodes  (n° 16 in The 100 GreatestTV episodes of all time! as chosen by the staff of TV Guide and Nick at Night TV Land) and his second 90 mn  films (just before Dual)

Known as a francophile, having shot several of his movies in France, why not Spielberg to work with a French author to bring  Columbo to the screen ?  Undoubtedly would he find the good actor, able to come after Falk without aping him.  

But many other big time producers could be interested in such an excicting project.
