From Stage to TV
Shown on as a play in 1962 (Thomas Mitchell landing the part), become one the most popular television crime shows of all time since 1968 to 2003, will the Columbo saga be completed throughout a movie ?
Columbo now:  to the Screen
This blog is dedicated to this goal pleading, to be the base of the future script, for a story bought by Universal in 1997 .
This story was Fatal Break .  In March 1996, its french author Olivier Cazeaux met Peter Falk who had just read the original treatment, being at once very appreciative.

One year later, a contract was signed off with Universal and the revision undertaken under supervision of  Peter  himself.  Despite it gave satisfaction, "it' s a great script" said Nancy Meyer, one of the Universal script supervisors, Fatal Break alas never went to production, possibly because of its potential cost:  many of of his scenes take place in the eastern italian alps, the impressive Dolomites where Cliff Hanger  first act was shot.  But  what was a negative factor according television standards could become a very plus in the context of film industry.

To do Columbo the movie, why not an american french team? Dealing rights of Fatal Break witth Universal,  a big time producer to lead the project and I to rewrite the story.

Discover here Fatal Break, both as a Columbo story and as the incredible story of a project born in Paris that had not the slightest chance to be read by Peter Falk.
